The Union Branch
The rules of the union branch guide the activities.
The union branch are independent associations that together form PAM. A union branch can be a company union or it can also be a sectoral, regional or national union, in which case it can include employees from several workplaces.
The purpose of the union branch is to bring together employees working in the service and related sectors, students, self-employed entrepreneurs and professionals, and the unemployed to work to improve their economic, social and legal status and quality of life.
Employees working in the service and related sectors, as well as in certain special sectors, students, white-collar workers and supervisors, and self-employed entrepreneurs and professionals can be accepted as members of the union branch.
Students studying at educational institutions in the sectors can join the union branch as student members. After entering the working world within the union's field of organization, a student member gains full membership rights under the same conditions as a new member.
The branches represent their members in the union, take initiatives, influence the working and living conditions of service sector workers, and provide services to their members.
Come and join Ykkönen's events and take advantage of the membership benefits of your own union branch.

Puukhollarit
From Bokhållar to Puukhollarit
The senior members of the Helsingin Kauppatyöntekijät retired members of the union branch, founded a club in 1973, which was called Puukhollarit. The then chairman Kaija Ryynänen invited the senior members to Tietoranta and the idea of their own club was born. The term Puukhollarit used to refer to an old merchant's assistant. The union branch supports the activities by granting a small grant and by making the premises available to the section free of charge.
The Puukhollarit program includes trips, visits to museums and exhibitions, theater and sometimes even parties. Socializing, reminiscing and having fun in good company fill the Puukhollarit meetings. In addition to the Helsingin Kauppatyöntekijät , the Puukhollarit includes active retirees from the entire trade union.
